Truck Warranty

ISUZU

What is a warranty?

For anyone considering a truck purchase, there are a wide range of business inputs to consider, including the overall profitability of your new capital equipment. Isuzu’s Future of Trucking (FoT) report surveyed over 1,000 truck owners across Australia, revealing that truck owners are looking at profitability and ‘lifetime’ costs more closely than ever (alongside other fleet operating costs).

The report found that 64 per cent of businesses believe that the total lifetime cost of ownership of a truck is now more important than the initial sticker price. A key aspect of calculating total lifetime cost is the warranty available on your purchase.

With the warranty covering your equipment (and in turn, your business) for years down the track, it can carry huge implications if mismanaged at the time of purchase. It’s also worth recognising that despite appearances, not all warranties are created equal.

Here are some important, and common, warranty points to consider…

  • Value limits, dependent on the cost of repairs over a given timeframe or distance reached.
  • Warranty provisions on products not matching the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty provisions.
  • Handling by third parties outside of the OEM (particularly in the case ofextended warranties).
